Get the Girls' Trip Out of the Group Chat

Issue #57

Miles, Maps & Styles

Hi Reader!

Marathon training is officially underway, and I have to say, there’s something about that first long run with the group that just makes it feel real. We hit the Chicago lakefront path early Saturday morning, I wore glitter (you don't have to wait until race day) the weather cooperated, and I remembered exactly why I signed up for this in the first place. Summer is here!

And yet somehow, summer is also already flying by. Is it just me? I feel like I’m simultaneously trying to soak it all in and stay on top of my training schedule, my to-do list, and the approximately 47 tabs I have open in my brain. Speaking of which, I’ve been quietly scheming a few trips for later in the summer, and one theme keeps coming up: girls' trips.

There’s something about getting away with my girls that just recharges my soul. So this week, I’m sharing all my best tips for actually making the girls trip get out of the group chat (without the budget stress).

Let's dig in.

Planning a Girls' Trip on a Budget

Planning a girls' trip can be so stressful, especially when it comes to the budget.

Good news: a memorable girls' trip does not require a big budget, just a little planning. Here’s what’s inside this week’s post:

  • How to choose destinations that are fun AND affordable (think beaches, walkable cities, and spots with tons of free activities)
  • Why shoulder season travel (May/June or September/October) is your secret weapon for lower prices without the crowds
  • How to set a group budget early (and keep everyone on the same page with apps like Splitwise) so there are zero awkward money moments

Ready to finally book that trip?

How to Make Travel Goodie Bags

Since we’re in full girls trip planning mode, I had to pull this one out of the archives. I put together these little goodies bags for my trip to London last year and it was so fun! It’s one of those small touches that makes everyone feel celebrated.

This post walks you through how to build the cutest travel goodie bags: think self-care items, hair ties, a little candy, and small surprises that match the vibe of your trip. There’s even a full supply list to make shopping easy.

Check out the post here and start pinning ideas for your next getaway. Your friends will love you for it.

Prime Picks of the Week

Looking to add something special for an upcoming destination marathon, girls' trip or racecation? Check out these items to make goodie bags for your really special!

  • Grace & Stella Eye Masks: The Grace and Stella under eye masks are cooling and perfect for tired eyes. I love wearing these on a flight (planes are so dehydrating).
  • Crest Whitening Strips: Refresh your smile or take some downtime to apply whitening strips. I like to include one of the Crest 3D Whitening Strips per goodie bag.
  • Basic Toiletries: Mini lotions, a tube of toothpaste, sanitizer mist, or lip balm can give the option of self-care on the go! Travel-size containers are priced affordably per person.
  • Shower Steamers: These shower steamer tablets are so refreshing! My favorite are the Body Restore shower steamers. These are perfect to add one per bag.
