Featured Resource
Employer Matching
Did you know some companies offer to match their employee's charitable donations as a company benefit? This is an incredible way to add free money to your donation page.
When you receive a donation, send a thank you note and ask if their employer matches donations. Offer to if there is anything you can do help make the process easier.
Similar to the tip to add a donation button to a social media post, you will want to keep track of this deposit to your page. The donation will likely need to be added manually by the charity. Reach out to your charity coordinator and confirm the donation amount and where it's coming from (the company name or firm handling their match program).
Hook of the Week
What's a hook?
A hook is the opening moment of a video or caption designed to stop the scroll on social and make someone want to keep watching. This is your one-second pitch for the viewer to continue watching. It can be text on screen, a visual, or both and it makes all the difference between someone watching or swiping past.
This week's hook:
Sure, running a marathon is cool. But have you tried running a marathon for [your charity]?
Here's an example:
Sure, running a marathon is cool. But have you tried running a marathon for Imerman Angels?
How to film it (keep it to 7 seconds!):
- Open with the text hook on screen over b-roll video. B-roll is observation "fly on the wall" video. Examples would be a clip of you on a morning run clip, running in a race, or you in your cross-training routine
- Keep the visual moving; no static shots
- Add the text hook to the top of the screen (like a headline) at the start of the video
- Layer trending audio underneath (check your Reels or TikTok audio tab for what's climbing this week) or a song that fits the clip
- Let the hook do the heavy lifting! You don't need to say a word on camera
- In the last 3-4 seconds, add text that says Details for How to Donate Below!
For your caption: Share why this race matters to you and why this charity is close to your heart. Keep it personal and specific. You just need to offer a personal touch as to why this is important to you and include specific details how they can find your donation link.
If you try this reel, let me know! I'd love to know how it goes (tag

Fundraising Tips for Next Week
I want to make sure you have enough time to plan out ideas for these fundraising posts.
Here are a few ideas you plan for the week of June 22nd:
- Let It Go Day (June 23): Encourage your supporters to “let go” of stress by making a donation. Emphasize how their support can help you stay motivated through training.
- National Sunglasses Day (June 27): Your future is so bright as a charity runner, you'll need sunglasses to get through it. Celebrate National Sunglasses Day with sunny days ahead. Post a sunglass selfie and ask for donations to celebrate sunny days ahead.
Here's ideas to start planning your June-themed fundraising ideas and read below for ideas for a whole year:
