Hi Reader,
As I'm writing this, I'm super pumped from spectating the Berlin Marathon today! Standing on the course reminded me of running this iconic race in 2024 and honestly, it's worth adding to your bucket list or a vision board. This race felt so magical to me then (I broke a 7 year PR) and after chasing my friends today, the feeling of being here today felt so impactful. Highly recommend keeping Berlin on your radar!
Anyway, let's dig in to this week's tips!

Marathon Fundraising Mistakes (And How to Fix Them)
This blog post highlights some misconceptions from a lot of charity runners and it's easy to get caught up in some of these habits.
Marathon fundraising can trip up even the most motivated runners. And more often than not, it’s not because people don’t want to support you, it might be your approach!
The good news? Every single one of the items on this list is fixable. Let’s review.

Hook of the Week
What's a hook?
A hook is the opening moment of a video or caption designed to stop the scroll on social and make someone want to keep watching. This is your one-second pitch for the viewer to continue watching. It can be text on screen, a visual, or both and it makes all the difference between someone watching or swiping past.
This week's hook:
3 Reasons You Should Donate to [your charity] from Someone Willing to Run 26.2 Miles for Them.(space out each reason 1 second apart)
[Reason 1]
[Reason 2]
[Reason 3]
Example:
3 Reasons You Should Donate to Imerman Angels from Someone Willing to Run 26.2 Miles for Them.(space out each reason .5 to 1 second apart)
They offer 1:1 support for someone fighting cancer
They match mentors and mentees on the deepest level
The program is free for anyone who applies thanks to donor support
For your caption: Remind the reader about the cool things you're experiencing as a charity runner, what your charity is about, or the impact of where the donations go. Include how simple it is to donate to your charity, whether it’s your link in bio, sending you a Venmo for you to donate on their behalf, or other fundraising events you have coming up.

Fundraising Tips for Next Week
I want to make sure you have enough time to plan out ideas for these fundraising posts. These ideas are meant to give you organic reasons to share your fundraiser!
Here are a few ideas you plan for the week of October 5th:
- World Teachers' Day (October 5): Celebrate the teachers and mentors who have taught you to keep going! This is a great way to celebrate both leaders in the classroom and on the course. Pair it with a kindness campaign for double the impact.
- National Pierogi Day (October 8): Celebrate this beloved comfort food while fundraising with a cultural twist. Whether you’re Polish or just love a good dumpling, this day’s got good taste.
- 25 Days Until NYC Marathon (October 7): It's the 25 day countdown to the New York City Marathon! This is an easy ask for a suggested donation of $25 to mark this milestone. Also if you're running you 20 Miler this weekend, ask for $20 donations to celebrate your longest run of the season!
- National Pierogi Day (October 8): Celebrate this beloved comfort food while fundraising with a cultural twist. Whether you’re Polish or just love a good dumpling, this day’s got good taste. After having visited Poland for the first time this week, this one feels extra special.
- Chicago Marathon Race Day (October 11): If you're running the Chicago Marathon, you've likely hit your fundraising minimum, so give your charity a little extra boost and ask for $26.20 donations for your victory lap!
