November Fundraising Ideas

November is here and this is a brand new post with November-specific fundraising ideas!

This list skips the Christmas season ideas and focuses on 17 November dates you can tie to your charity fundraiser. They're grouped by theme, and every idea includes the type of charity it fits best, plus a copy-and-post social script, so you can go from blank captions to posted in about 10 minutes.

Hook of the Week

This week's hook of the week is a single photo and an easy reminder for the good work your charity supports.

What's a hook?

A hook is the opening moment of a video or caption designed to stop the scroll on social and make someone want to keep watching. This is your one-second pitch for the viewer to continue watching. It can be text on screen, a visual, or both and it makes all the difference between someone watching or swiping past.

This week's hook:

Just checking you knew [insert something cool about your charity here]

Take a photo of the top of your face peering into your phone so it looks like you're looking inside it.

Example: Just checking you knew Imerman Angels provides one-on-one support to cancer fighters

See an example of this idea here.

For your caption: Remind your friends what your charity is about or the impact of where the donations go. Include how simple it is to donate to your charity, whether it’s your link in bio, sending you a Venmo for you to donate on their behalf, or other fundraising events you have coming up.

Fundraising Tips for Next Week

I want to make sure you have enough time to plan out ideas for these fundraising posts. These ideas are meant to give you organic reasons to share your fundraiser!

Here are a few ideas you plan for the week of November 9th:

  • Pile on the Miles Run Streak: Run every day in November and ask donors to pledge per mile. Share your streak daily in Stories with Thanksgiving decor and post a weekly recap and donation reminder using a letter board. Get more details on how to host a run streak here.
  • Veterans Day & Remembrance Day (November 11): Use 11/11: run 11 miles (or 1.1), ask for $11 donations, and invite donors to share the name of a veteran you'll carry on your run. Remembrance Day and the poppy tradition work the same way: honor a name, share the story, make the ask.
  • Pizza With the Works Day (November 12): National Pizza With the Works Except Anchovies Day. Partner with a pizzeria for a giveback night or create topping tiers where bigger gifts add toppings to your post-run pizza.

November is here and you can plan ideas all month long! And for the holidays, check out these ideas to plan your holiday fundraisers. Get more fundraising ideas below for the whole year:

To fundraise while sheltering-in-place inspired a lot of the fundraising tips I've shared through Run. Wander. Wear. It made me think outside the box and get creative for how to...
