Hello Reader,
Hope you're having a great Monday! With the weather slowly starting to feel like Fall here in Chicago, let's check in on something it's easy to forget when it comes to marathon fundraising: seasonality.
With that said, let's dig in to this week's fundraising tips!

If you've ever felt like fundraising for your cause to be tiring, you're not alone! Fundraising fatigue is real, and it's one of the biggest reasons charity runners go quiet halfway through their campaign.
Here's the reframe that changed everything for me: your followers aren't tired of you. They love following your story. And you are living one every single week of training.
Try the 80/20 approach. Make about 80% of your posts about your journey and only about 20% direct asks. The story posts do the warming up, so when you do ask, it feels like a natural next step instead of another fundraising request post.
Let the story carry the link. Keep your fundraising link in your bio or tucked at the end of your caption with a simple "Link in bio if you want to be part of this." You're sharing your journey with an open door.
The best part? When people feel like they've been along for the ride, they want to help you cross the finish line. Get more tips for how to fundraiser for non-salespeople in this this post!

Hook of the Week
What's a hook?
A hook is the opening moment of a video or caption designed to stop the scroll on social and make someone want to keep watching. This is your one-second pitch for the viewer to continue watching. It can be text on screen, a visual, or both and it makes all the difference between someone watching or swiping past.
This week's hook:
Rich in life because I get to run [your marathon] in [race month] and support [your charity] at the same time.
Example:
Rich in life because I get to run the Chicago Marathon in October and support Imerman Angels at the same time.
See an example of this post!
For your caption: Remind your friends what your charity is about or the impact of where the donations go. Include how simple it is to donate to your charity, whether it’s your link in bio, sending you a Venmo for you to donate on their behalf, or other fundraising events you have coming up.

Fundraising Tips for Next Week
I want to make sure you have enough time to plan out ideas for these fundraising posts. These ideas are meant to give you organic reasons to share your fundraiser!
Here are a few ideas you plan for the week of October 26th:
- Halfway to London (October 26): This is the halfway point between London 2026 and London 2027. Use this as an opportunity to ask fundraisers to get you halfway to your fundraising goal!
- Black Cat Day (October 27): Celebrate our misunderstood feline friends! This fun day is perfect for animal lovers and shelter supporters as a Halloween fundraiser opportunity.
- Host a Pumpkin Carving Night: Charge an entry fee where participants bring or buy a gourd and decorate it, with the proceeds going to your fundraising page. This is a low-effort, no frills fundraiser that can make a big impact. If you can get donations for prizes, sell raffle tickets for an additional fundraising boost.
- Halloween (October 31): From spooky 5Ks to costume contests, Halloween is the perfect excuse to turn your fundraising campaign into a frightfully fun event. Consider hosting a “run-raiser” by running in a costume and letting the votes determine your costume selection.
November is almost here! Check out these ideas to plan your holiday fundraisers and read below for ideas for the whole year:
