Hook of the Week
What's a hook?
A hook is the opening moment of a video or caption designed to stop the scroll on social and make someone want to keep watching. This is your one-second pitch for the viewer to continue watching. It can be text on screen, a visual, or both and it makes all the difference between someone watching or swiping past.
This week's hook:
Here’s what happens when you donate to [your charity]. You’ll help [your charity’s mission] and you'll support my dream of running [your marathon].
For your caption: Remind the reader about the cool things you're experiencing as a charity runner, what your charity is about, or the impact of where the donations go. Include how simple it is to donate to your charity, whether it’s your link in bio, sending you a Venmo for you to donate on their behalf, or other fundraising events you have coming up.

Fundraising Tips for Next Week
I want to make sure you have enough time to plan out ideas for these fundraising posts. These ideas are meant to give you organic reasons to share your fundraiser!
Here are a few ideas you plan for the week of September 7th:
- Labor Day (September 7): Labor Day is a great reason to call out your hard work for marathon training.
- Buy a Book Day (September 7): Highlight your love for books or a literacy program with Buy a Book Day! Encourage others to donate $20 to your cause for the cost of a book.
- World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10): Say who you're running for, say what that person or that experience means to you. No gimmicks, pure focus.
- 50 Days Until New York City Marathon (September 13): With 50 days to go, remind your friends your big race is only 50 days away. Use this as an organic way to reshare your fundraising campaign with your friends.
- Positive Thinking Day (September 13): This holiday is the perfect pairing with taper-season nerves or if you've ever had a rough training block. Ask donors to send an encouraging note with their donation and read them on your long run.
