Early Sun = Morning Runs

Issue #52

Miles, Maps & Styles

Hi Reader!

This past weekend I celebrated my birthday and honestly? It was an incredible weekend. Having a Spring birthday always reminds me summer is coming! The sun starts coming up earlier and with the upcoming kick off for the 30-day run streak (more info here) right around the corner, it means I am going to start running in the morning again soon!

Speaking of morning runs, this brings me to this week's featured post, How to Start a Morning Running Routine. Let's discuss tips for how to shift to a morning workout routine and more.

Let's dig in.

Tips to Start a Morning Run Routine

Morning running is a game-changer, but getting started can feel harder than the miles themselves.

Here's what the post covers:

  • Morning runs eliminate the evening schedule chaos, making consistency so much easier to stick to.
  • Early exercise genuinely improves your sleep, mental focus, and mood throughout the day.
  • Most races start in the morning, so early training actually mirrors race-day conditions.

Safety Tips for Running Solo

With more daylight and warmer temps, a lot of us are extending our routes, running earlier, or exploring new trails. It's the best time of year to be out there, and also a good moment to revisit this one.

This post covers everything from pre-run prep to running gear choices, smart route selection, and what to do if a run ever feels off. It's a quick, practical read that's worth a refresh no matter how long you've been running.

Issue #53 Miles, Maps & Styles Hi Reader! Hope you had a chance to soak up some of the long weekend! Brian and I spent part of it out on Lake Michigan with my best friend, Dyan, for a sail. The rain on Sunday kind of had other plans for us the rest of the weekend, but we got our summer kicked off officially now that our flowers are planted. We...
